The key to success and the power of imagination go hand in hand. This applies on a personal level as well as in the professional realm. Imagine how you want your life to be and you will be able to have the right mindset to actually accomplish those goals.
Have you ever had a situation where a thought like, “I really hope I’m not late for my meeting tomorrow – my boss would be sure to notice,” comes into your head? Then the next morning you are delayed, and as soon as you walk into the room everyone stops and looks at you disapprovingly? Finding the key to success has everything to do with our own imagination and mindset.
Unfortunately, we rarely imagine pleasant situations and are drawn to the catastrophic ones like moths to a flame: “The client will say no,” or, “I won’t achieve my objectives,” or, “I’m going to put on weight,” or, “My loved ones will be disappointed in me.” They become imprinted on our brains, and eventually they become reality. The key to success has everything to do with (mental) problem solving and responding to these sorts of situations.
What does our imagination have to do with the key to success?
Well… We found that imagination has to do everything with success.
“If you believe it, you built it” (Brian Tracy)
It is all about the power of our own imagination. When we make a film in our mind, our brain can’t distinguish between fiction and reality. We think, imagine and feel at the same time.
The ability to imagine is one of the most important keys to success. After all, if you can’t imagine something, how can you achieve it?
Some of the most successful people in the world are those who have been able to tap into their imaginations and use it to their advantage.
How does imagination help to get success?
In a nutshell, we teach ourselves that we do not deserve success or for things to go well for us. This is human nature, learned through education, culture, and traditions over the generations.
Fortunately, we are not born this way. As an example, take a look at little children and see how brave they are while seeing the endless possibilities in everything. Sadly, our fear of disapproval, of not fitting in, of losing, of being unloved gradually erodes this courage until we become paralysed in our decision-making and actions.
So lets consider the question, How does imagination help to bring success?
Well, Imagination can be a wonderful place to discover your fullest potential. In your mind, you will create different circumstances and situations on how to approach challenges, even if this is unconsciously.
Speaking of an unconscious level, we found you are more eager to attract the things you imagine. This means that if you think you can, you actually have a better chance of achieving your goals and successes.
What is the key to success?
The key to success starts with your imagination. It starts with imagining you can, visualising you can overcome difficulties.
Often, we are stuck in a vicious cycle. However, our imagination is our choice. So why not choose to picture a positive self-fulfilling prophecy instead?
The good news is that imagination is something that can be developed. If you feel like your imagination isn’t as strong as it could be, there are things you can do to improve it.
If you have worries or limiting beliefs (thought), we suggest writing it down. How?
- Just take 5 minutes out of your day for the next 30 days.
- During these 5 minutes you could think of possible positive outcomes or beliefs (imagination).
- Picture how it will feel when you make it happen (imagination) or write it down.
- When doing this, you have already taken the first, most important step to making it happen (action).
“Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you are right.” (Henry Ford)
The power of Imagination
Never underestimate the power of imagination. Even if the outcome isn’t exactly what you had in mind, a positive outlook on life can help you to feel better when taking on challenges. See it as a rehearsal in your mind, as it shapes the way we see our reality.
